Sorry for the amount of time that’s passed without an update, life is quite busy at the moment. Wedding plans continue and we have now begun our prayer week at Dar el Awlad.
Its great how reliable and sturdy Apple hardware is, my 2008 MacBook is still chugging along quite well. There are a few slowdowns from time to time, but it still runs almost as fast as the way it was delivered into my waiting arms in the Fall of 2008. With some of the work I do it would be nice to have the specs bumped up a bit, and to lengthen the life of the computer a bit more, so I decided to invest a little $$ and give it a makeover.
In a few weeks a 240GB Solid State Hard Drive (SSD) and 8 GB RAM will be added to this small, modest machine...so fingers crossed and expectations already gaining momentum! If I have time I might do some benchmarking to see how fast things launch and boot now, to compare it to when I do the transplant. The investment of $427 definitely offsets the cost of $1300+ for a new Mac.
As I said, wedding plans continue. The wedding will be at 4:0o in Zahlé on Saturday, April 7. If you plan on attending let me know and I’ll get you directions and details. An invitation-only reception will follow around 7:00 pm. You can get more information on the wedding and our lives as they come together at www.mallaidh.org/wedding.
The Dar el Awlad 2012 Prayer Week is kicking off today, you can download a copy of our prayer guide here (PDF), and it will last through Feb. 26. Consider joining with us as we lift up the lives of our children, staff, families, program, and country.
Until next time, hopefully before the upgrades come in!!!!!
